What is Social Media?
Wikipedia defines Social Media as “the online tools and platforms that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other. Social media can take many different forms, including text, images, audio, and video.”

Why Monitor Social Media?

Social media is becoming increasingly prominent as a means of communication. It used to be that a person who had a negative experience with a business might tell ten others; however, with the ease of social media, that same person can tell thousands of that negative experience in a matter of moments. Studies have shown that consumers are turning to the Internet more for reviews and opinions of products and services, which greatly influence purchasing decisions;social media outlets are no exception.

In fact, social media is becoming so prominent that a google search for a company may turn up social media sites that reference the company before the company's own website. First impressions can make or break a company; if negative feedback on these types of sites is the first information a consumer sees, they may not become a customer.

Monitoring social media is vital in the example above. If you're not aware of what is out there, your business could be hurting without you knowing why. We recently wrote an article with guidelines on social media monitoring - a quick view of this article and its recommendations may show you that people are talking about you.

Why use a third-party source to monitor social media?
If you read the article above, you can see that social media monitoring can be time consuming, especially for larger companies. Additionally, the information you gather can be overwhelming and you're not sure how to react to it, if at all, or how to analyze the information you are collecting.

Ann Michaels & Associates launched the SafetyNet service with companies' needs in mind - we know that companies are strapped for time but need to be in touch with social media. Our service can help you with the following:

  • Quickly gather information from all social media outlets on the Internet on a consistent basis
  • Notify key company members of negative information and assist with a response plan of action
  • Analyze trends and patterns of the data collected through social media outlets
  • Assist companies in further investigation through mystery shopping - we will work with you to create an "action threshold" that will alert us to conduct immediate mystery shops at specific locations to further investigate negative concerns or issues raised by consumers.

By utilizing this program, we can build a SafetyNet for your company - the goal of this program is to easily and affordably allow your company to monitor and maintain the reputation it has worked so hard to build.

How much does SafetyNet cost?

For a low monthly fee, Ann Michaels & Associates will monitor social media for you. Once the initial design is setup, including keywords to include in the monitoring process, design of the action plans with regard to negative response and mystery shopping, your part is done. From there, you can focus on other things while we provide data and analytical results on a regular, predetermined basis.Learn more about SafetyNet pricing and packages.
